THE CUSTOMER
A proven solution, an experienced partner. The information storage system used by the Canton of Grisons is based on OpenText’s DOCS system and the expertise of ImageWare.
The Office for Informatics (AI) provides IT services to the administrative units of the Swiss Canton of Grisons, being responsible for the operation, maintenance and further development of the canton’s IT infrastructure.

THE BACKGROUND
Devised in 2011, the canton’s CM strategy called for a legally compliant means of archiving official dossiers and documents within a centralized information storage system. The aim was to establish a basis for consolidating various storage systems and digitalizing paper-based archives.
Via an open and transparent tender procedure, the AFI set out to find a scalable, multi-client capable solution. Ideally, it was looking for a universal standard product capable of connecting the canton’s technical applications, while mapping entire document lifecycles and supporting the forwarding of the relevant files to the state archives.
ImageWare entered the race with OpenText’s DOCS suite and prevailed over the competition.

With eDOCS from OpenText, the Office for Informatics went for a multi-client-capa-ble, scalable system capable of facilitating solid, enterprise-wide archiving. The add-on components developed by ImageWare immediately established several bridgeheads to the technical applications used by the canton’s administrative units.

IMPLEMENTATION
ImageWare implemented the proiect professionally on the basis of the HERMES method of project management.
Development of the infrastructure proceeded apace. In order to connect the various technical applications, it was necessary to exchange information with the respective software providers, and the collaboration was always conducted efficiently in a true spirit of partnership.
Thanks to ImageWare’s expertise, various technical challenges were overcome at the beginning of the project. Looking back, Fernando Caduff affirmed that Image-Ware’s «outstanding expertise in the OpenText environment was really impressive».
